Programming

  • Courses: OLLI offers fall and spring semesters of 4-week or 8-week courses taught by distinguished faculty from the University of Illinois and other colleges and universities in the region, and by community experts from a wide variety of areas. Courses meet once per week for 90 minutes unless otherwise specified. We do not take attendance or assign grades, and there are no required assignments (although some courses may offer reading suggestions).
  • Study Groups: Study Groups are organized and led by OLLI members on a wide variety of topics designed to encourage active discussion and engagement. The Facilitator organizes the group but does not need to be an expert on the topic. The 90 minute sessions are led by the Facilitator or by volunteers among the group. Study groups sessions are offered four times during the year when courses are not in session. They typically meet for 6 sessions.
  • Lectures: Lectures are organized throughout the year. Speakers include faculty, community experts, scholars, and artists from across the country and the world. Lectures are free to all OLLI members. To introduce non-members to OLLI, members are encouraged to bring a non-member guest for lectures.  Please contact the office to register a guest.
  • Interest Groups: Interest Groups are a way for OLLI members to share an interest they have with other members on a regular basis. They are facilitated by OLLI members. Some Interest Groups take place at OLLI and some in the community, depending on the group.
  • Wellness Program: OLLI 's Wellness Program offers 60-minute sessions for members to continue practicing yoga; some prior experience is required.  These sessions are taught by experts and are limited in size.  They meet once a week for 6 weeks during the same periods as the Study Group sessions.
