Are you interested in exploring a specific topic as part of an interactive, member-proposed, and facilitated conversation? If so, please consider leading or co-leading an OLLI study group
To make the submission process even easier, we have updated our online submission form.
OLLI study groups are typically smaller than courses and more interactive in nature. Some sample topics include thematically related short stories, magazine discussion groups, and topic-driven discussion groups, but the number of topics is endless. The study group facilitator does not need to be an expert on the topic, as the study groups encourage exploration and inquiry by everyone in the group. The facilitator’s primary function is to organize the group and facilitate the discussion. The facilitator can lead all sessions or ask for volunteers from the group members to lead some of the discussions.
Facilitator training and information sessions will be organized by the Study Group Committee and the OLLI staff for the benefit of new and returning facilitators. It is strongly recommended, however, that members participate in at least one OLLI Study Group before proposing to facilitate a group. If you would like to review past study groups, please visit the OLLI study group archive.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss an idea or topic, please contact Kathryn Williams (Director) or Linda Coleman (Study Group Committee Chair) at olli@illinois.edu.
