Lecture Series

Lectures are organized throughout the year, and they are free to all OLLI members; members are also encouraged to bring a non-member guest. Speakers include U of I faculty, community members, and scholars and artists from around the country and around the world.

Free lectures have always been a rich opportunity to discover new subjects in a one-time educational experience. In 2017-2018, OLLI organized and hosted more than 60 lectures; more exciting events are planned for the coming year.

Some recent lectures have included:

  • • Mapping the Heavens from Illinois
    • Introduction to Genetic Genealogy
    • The 2018 Midterm Elections
    • Fun and Learning: Board Games in the Long 19th Century
    • Mark Morris Dance Group: Layla and Majnun
