About OLLI

Organizational Structure

OLLI is truly a member-focused learning community, guided by a volunteer Board of Directors and numerous standing committees. Find the full list of Board members and committee members.

OLLI has a permanent staff consisting of a Director, Outreach Specialist, and Office Manager.

Only active OLLI members are eligible to participate in OLLI at Illinois’ programming. OLLI membership is intended solely for residents of Central Illinois over the age of 50 who will participate in OLLI’s programming at the institute’s Champaign location. Even when online programs are offered, the expectation is that all members will be residents of Central Illinois who will participate in in-person activities when they are offered, to the extent that they are able to do so.

A full-year membership is $150. The full-year membership period (for 2020-2021 only) is August 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.

Half-year memberships will be available for the period from December 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021. A half-year membership is $90.

Only active OLLI at Illinois members are eligible to register for courses, study groups, and other programs.

All course and study group fees are pay-as-you go. Each 8-week course costs $40 (4-week courses are $20), and each study group costs $20.

The joy of learning makes a wonderful gift! Gift certificates and more information are available in the OLLI office.

OLLI for All

We are dedicated to making OLLI membership and participation affordable and accessible to area residents over 50 who wish to be involved. If you would like to request a membership fee waiver, or require disability-related accommodations or special assistance, please contact OLLI Director Christine Catanzarite at catanzar@illinois.edu or 217-244-9141.

If you wish to make a gift to support our programs (including our scholarship fund), please go to our donation page or contact Christine Catanzarite.

Benefits of OLLI Membership

OLLI offers fall and spring semesters of 8-week courses taught by distinguished faculty (both current and emeritus) from the University of Illinois and other regional colleges and universities, and community members from a wide variety of areas. A selection of 4-week courses is also offered. The spring 2021 semester begins January 25, 2021; more information about our exciting courses and inspiring instructors can be found here.

Each 8-week course costs $40, and 4-week courses are $20 each. Course costs are a la carte – members pay for all of the courses for which they register.

* * Please be aware that some secondary benefits of OLLI membership – especially those related to in-person library and wellness programs – may be temporarily unavailable due to the limitations imposed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Members will be eligible for a University of Illinois I-Card if they do not already have one; details for obtaining the I-Card will be provided in your membership confirmation. The I-Card comes with several benefits:

We will make every effort to contact our members via email, but that may not be possible in some emergency circumstances. In all situations, we urge our members to consider their safety first when conditions are bad – after all, we do not take attendance at OLLI!
